How to remove the virus which makes each folder(hard disk drive ie c,d,drives) open in its own new w

every time i open a disk drive ......ie c,d,e,f so on in the computer it opens in a new window and this adds a lot of folders in the task bar creating a mess ..... it has not gone even after formating the c drive and installing a fresh copy of the xp .....

i also have the virus which has disabled the show hidden files option in the folder options

Start in safe mode with internet %26amp; do a free online scan, this scan will remove what it finds for free, if it cannot remove your virus note the name of virus %26amp; it's path.

If it is a worm then if your using a memory stick the worm is on your memory stick.

I dont think its a virus - its just settings on your folder options.

* Open any folder

* In Menu seletc Tools - Folder Options.

* In General Tab - Browse Foders - Select Open each folder in same window

* Select OK
